I have also been looking into alternatives to the toxic teflon coatings. I discovered the ecolution pans and thought I’d found something amazing. After more reading, however, I have to agree with Chris… There is no information about whether the actual substance coating the pans is different from teflon. Only the “application” is “water-based.” I am interested in the cuisinart greenpans – I believe the non-stick coating on those is ceramic?

My concern with the Ecolution products, is I can’t find anything in their literature or on the internet about whether or not their Hydrolon coating actually does not have teflon. It says its PFOA free, which is the chemical traditionally used to apply teflon, but from everything I can read, it sounds like Hydrolon is just a water based way to apply teflon. Generally if something doesn’t have teflon, it would also be listed as PTFE free as well as PFOA.

The only products I have found the list both PFOA and PTFE are the GreenPan products, typically sold under Todd English’s name, and Cuisinart’s Greenware and GreenGourmet lines.

I personally have a 12 in Greenpan and it works great.

Thank you , I enjoy reading about other vegansas it gives me the strength to continue. I have about a thousand vegetarian feeds in my google reader, but I'm sure another can't hurt!! I did manage to find a good lentil recipe here, but I'll be sure to try yours too. Thanks!
